She then went on to study a degree in Graphic Communication at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. Since graduating in 2001 she’s worked as a Graphic Designer for commercial companies and Christian charities. Her particular area of interest is typography – the use of type within design.

Carole Gaylard

As an artist, Carole Gaylard has enjoyed working in many different media over the years. Paint has always been the main route for her inspiration to find its way, but fabric has also been an important, though less public, way of expressing herself.

It is through knowledge of this work that Lodge farm Church commissioned Carole to make a series of hand puppets for the children’s work carried out at the church.

God asks us to tell others about Himself in many different ways. Through the puppets the children enjoy learning about and performing stories from the Bible, and parents enjoy coming to church to see their children perform while at the same time hearing the message of Jesus. John 3:16

Deborah Wheeler

Deborah Wheeler moved to Newport ten years ago, after working for six years in London for Zandra Rhodes and then two and a half years for Skopos in Yorkshire, designing printed fabrics.

When she came to Newport she was impressed by the first Diverse Manners exhibition and asked to join the group.

In her nine years with the group she has covered many varying and challenging themes such as domestic abuse, injustice, sexuality and gender issues, using embroidery as her medium of expression.  She has also been inspired by the beauty in creation and the surrounding countryside. Deborah uses her love of embroidery as a form of worship, in the hope that she will challenge people’s views and opinions and also celebrate God.
