The Diverse Manners Arts Group is a collective of artists living or having studied in Newport, who share a common Christian faith. The first Diverse Manners art exhibition took place in Newport in 1998, with the aim of supporting the artists and bringing their work to a wider audience. In 1999 the arts group was formally established. It has continued to stage regular art exhibitions presenting a variety of visual art forms. Previous shows have included painting, drawing, embroidery, sculpture, photography, animation and installation. The Diverse Manners Arts Group is a non profit making, distributing organisation. It is financed by members subscriptions and donations. The group does not make any money from staging exhibitions. Rather, the group members are committed to supporting Christians involved in social action. Therefore, where possible, artists agree to donate 25% of any sales to Christian relief and development agencies. Summary of our aims - To provide support for Christian artists and to enable them to share their artwork with other Christians.
- To allow Christians to share in expressions of Christian worship and experience, communicated through the visual arts.
- To communicate to those outside the Church something of the creativity that can be motivated by a relationship with God.
- To give an opportunity for the Christian community to become more informed about, and give financial support to, Christians involved in social action.
